Absolutely LOVE this office! From making appointments, checking in, and seeing the doctor, they are so friendly and warm! Just great staff/doctors! Dr Vandenberg is my favorite, but the other doctors have been great in the past as well! I briefly saw another eye specialist due to insurance but honestly, Newsom knows how to bill medical and vision correctly while the other clinic did not. I'd give more than 5 stars if I could because they have literally saved my vision because they listen and they're very knowledgeable!

My annual exam was performed expertly by Shyann, who explained every step of the process and was so pleasant. I came to find out she is interning for the summer and I never would have guessed that she wasn't an experienced practitioner. I was very pleased with the efficiency of my exam. I love my Newsome Eyes!

I can’t say enough great things about Newsom Eyes in Carrollwood. The entire staff, with a very special shout out to Dr. Fazio, were tremendous. It was getting challenging to drive at night and I knew it was time to have my cataracts removed. The first time I stepped in the door I was met by a warm, friendly & knowledgeable group of doctors, assistants & staff. I was scared & skeptical. Dr. Newsom was great. There were several lenses to choose from. Dr. Newsom was kind and patient and took great time explaining each one. No pressure. I opted for the LAL/Light Adjustable Lenses. Angie was extremely sweet & helpful in answering any question at anytime and I called her often. LAL’s are Dr. Fazio’s expertise so most of my appointments were with him. He was kind, funny, positive and never seemed to be in a hurry to answer my questions & concerns. Today I no longer need glasses for anything. I’m done with readers too. If I could advise someone dealing with cataracts I would tell them it is a process & to take that first step into Newsom in Carrollwood. The kindness & expertise of everyone there is top notch. Thank you so very much.

I wanted to take a moment to recognize Leanne for the amazing job she does. My husband had an appointment and I stayed in the lobby the entire time, so I was able to witness firsthand how she handles everything with so much calmness and professionalism.
It was extremely busy to the point where there weren’t even enough seats and people were constantly coming in and out from every direction. Despite that, Leanne stayed focused and positive I watched her check patients in and out, translate for two different people and even help someone complete paperwork by translating everything for them, and even assist patients with follow-ups and things from other coworker and phone calls and direct patients to the right floor and dealing with billing issues and getting forms filled out, basically everything! She truly went above and beyond. There was another employee working with her who was handling longer checkout processes and I heard them telling each other they were doing an good job and it was really nice to see that kind of support and teamwork between them. And every patient left smiling.
At times there was a small line at the front desk but both girls kept things moving quickly and stayed positive while being glued to their seats for almost the full 2 hours. Honestly two people is not always enough for how busy it gets and management should really support them more, because they are doing an incredible job with what they have.

This place is an assembly line of incompetence. Except for Dr Vandenberg, the call staff definitely needs more training. Dr Vandenberg examined my elderly father and discovered he has fluid built up behind one of his retinas. They scheduled us with a retina specialist 3 weeks later. Dr Vandenberg saw this the following day and demanded the staff fit my dad in immediately because he was in danger of losing his eyesight. Unfortunately, Dr Guarardo took the morning off when he was supposed to see my father and now we are scheduled two days after our original appointment. Or so I thought. The office just called wanting to reschedule my appointment with the retina specialist we had on May 5 when he took the morning off with a full list of patients. She said she didn’t have anything on the schedule for us. I told her we were rescheduled to May 21, 2026. She said she has nothing for us and when do we want to come. I said we will be there May 21 at 12:30 and let Dr Vandenberg know it’s now been 3 weeks since he was last seen. Don’t go here. Visionworks at the mall is much more efficient and that is not saying much.
